What to know before you choose
- Base complements an existing management platform; it does not include Knox Manage.
- Essentials adds management and remote support; Enterprise adds advanced fleet tools.
- Check device compatibility, UK handset entitlements and renewal terms before buying.

Which Samsung Knox Suite plan should a business choose?
Start with the jobs your administrator needs to do. Base provides Samsung enrolment and policy tools for use with an existing management platform. Essentials adds Knox device management and remote support. Enterprise adds advanced fleet capabilities, including firmware control and operational insight. Samsung outlines this progression in its Knox Suite plan announcement.
Company size alone does not decide the answer. A small warehouse with shared scanning devices may have a more complex requirement than a larger office using an established management platform. Our recommendation is to select the capabilities you will use and identify who will run them.

The matrix follows Samsung's current licence documentation, checked on 7 October 2026. Inclusion in a plan does not mean every function works on every device. Confirm the supported model, software version, ownership mode and any specialist licence requirements for your proposed deployment.
Knox Configure and Knox Guard have separate licences in Samsung's documentation. Do not treat the word “Suite” as a promise that every product carrying the Knox name is included.
Base Plan: assess it when you already have device management
Base is a sensible starting point to evaluate when your business already uses a compatible enterprise mobility management or unified endpoint management platform. The existing platform still needs its own licence and configuration.
For example, an office issuing Samsung phones through Intune could ask IT to evaluate Samsung enrolment and additional Samsung policies first. There is little value in adding a separate management console if it duplicates the controls your administrator already operates. Our Knox and Microsoft Intune guide explains the roles of enrolment, management and Knox Service Plugin.
The buying question is: can the existing platform apply the required policies to the exact devices you intend to order? Request a demonstration using a test phone, rather than accepting a general compatibility statement.
Essentials Plan: assess it for everyday fleet management
Essentials is worth evaluating when you need a management platform and remote support. Ask the proposed administrator to demonstrate the everyday workflow: install a work app, change a setting, diagnose a user issue and prepare a handset for a new starter.
For a small business without an established device management service, the practical decision includes who will configure and maintain that platform. Agree the responsibilities for adding users, responding to a missing phone and removing access when somebody leaves.
Evaluate it against your actual requirements and support arrangements. Our small-business setup guide turns those requirements into a rollout checklist.
Enterprise Plan: assess it for additional operational controls
Samsung positions Enterprise for more demanding fleet requirements. It adds tools for controlling supported firmware updates, analysing device operation and supporting frontline tasks. See Samsung's plan comparison for the product scope.
Before selecting it, describe the problem each additional tool should solve. A field team might need a predictable app and operating-system combination. A shift-based operation might need a tested shared-device sign-in process. Turn each problem into a pilot acceptance check with an owner and a measurable result.
These are illustrative situations, not customer case studies or a claim that a licence automatically delivers the result. Device eligibility, configuration and administration remain part of the project.
Can you buy an individual Knox service instead?
Samsung lists standalone commercial licences as well as Suite plans. Ask a reseller to compare the needed individual service with a bundle, including the administration effort and total cost. A business using another management platform may have a specific requirement that does not justify replacing its existing setup.
For budgeting, use our Samsung Knox pricing UK guide. Compare software, initial setup and ongoing support separately, and check the full licence period rather than just an introductory entitlement.
What about Enterprise Edition phones?
Enterprise Edition is a handset package; Knox Suite Enterprise is a software plan. Samsung describes an initial Suite entitlement for Enterprise Edition while qualifying that offerings vary by region. Check the UK device package and the plan and renewal terms you will actually receive. See Samsung's Enterprise Edition documentation and our buying guide.
Five checks before you choose
- Write down the required policies and operational tasks.
- Confirm what your current management platform already covers.
- Check the exact UK handsets against the chosen services.
- Test the workflow with a representative device and work apps.
- Confirm the software, setup, support and renewal scope in writing.
When requesting a Samsung business quote, include your device count, preferred models and management requirements. CTN compares handsets and network options; any software supply or administration service needs to be confirmed in the proposal.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Knox Suite Base and Essentials?
Base includes Samsung enrolment and policy tools for use with an existing management platform. Essentials also includes Knox Manage and Knox Remote Support.
Does Essentials include Knox E-FOTA?
Samsung's published Suite matrix includes Knox E-FOTA in Enterprise, rather than Essentials. Standalone licensing may also be an option; confirm the proposed licence and device support.
Is Enterprise only for large companies?
Assess it by the capabilities you need and can administer. A smaller operation with shared devices or specific update-control requirements may also want to evaluate the advanced tools.
Does Knox Suite replace Intune?
Knox Manage and Intune are management platforms. Other Knox tools can complement Intune. Identify the intended role of each service before changing your current setup.
