Why Compare?

Most businesses overpay on their mobile contracts by 20 to 35 percent. The main reasons are auto renewed contracts at inflated rates, data plans that do not match actual usage, and hidden charges. Comparing all four networks side by side reveals whether you are getting good value or paying more than you need to.

| What We Check | Why It Matters | |---------------|---------------| | Coverage at your postcodes | The cheapest deal is useless with poor signal | | Data vs actual usage | Right sizing prevents overpaying and overage charges | | Contract terms | Length, price rises, exit fees all affect total cost | | Multi line discounts | 5+ lines typically save 10 to 25 percent | | Business features | Fleet management, MDM, roaming, support levels |

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I keep my business phone number when switching provider?

Yes. Under OFCOM regulations, you have a legal right to keep your business phone number when switching mobile provider. Your current provider must issue a PAC (Porting Authorisation Code) within one working day of your request. You give this code to your new provider and the number transfers within one working day.

How long does it take to port a business number?

Once you give your PAC code to your new provider, the number ports within one working day. There is typically a brief interruption of service lasting under two hours during the switch. You can choose the porting date to minimise disruption to your business.

Is there any downtime when porting a business number?

There is usually a brief interruption of around one to two hours while the number transfers between networks. During this time, incoming calls may not connect. You can schedule the port for a time that suits your business, such as early morning or lunchtime, to minimise the impact.

Can I port multiple business numbers at once?

Yes. There is no limit to the number of business lines you can port. Compare The Networks handles bulk porting for businesses with 5, 10, 50 or more lines. We collect all PAC codes, coordinate porting dates, and can stagger the migration to ensure your business always has active lines.

What is a PAC code and how do I get one?

A PAC (Porting Authorisation Code) is a unique nine-character code that authorises the transfer of your phone number to a new provider. For consumer accounts you can text PAC to 65075, but business accounts typically need to call the provider's business support line or speak to their account manager. The provider must issue it within one working day and it is valid for 30 days.

Can I port a landline number to a mobile?

Yes. You can port a traditional landline number to a virtual landline service, which forwards calls to your mobile. This means your customers continue calling the same number they have always used, while you answer on your mobile from anywhere. It is ideal for businesses moving away from physical office phone lines.

What happens if my PAC code expires?

PAC codes are valid for 30 days from the date of issue. If your PAC code expires before you use it, simply request a new one from your current provider. There is no limit to the number of times you can request a PAC code, and your provider cannot refuse or charge you for issuing one.

Do I need to cancel my old contract separately after porting?

No. When you port your number using a PAC code, your old contract is automatically cancelled on the day the number transfers. You do not need to contact your old provider separately. However, if you are still within your minimum contract term, early termination fees may apply. These are separate from the porting process.
