Why Compare?

Most businesses overpay on their mobile contracts by 20 to 35 percent. The main reasons are auto renewed contracts at inflated rates, data plans that do not match actual usage, and hidden charges. Comparing all four networks side by side reveals whether you are getting good value or paying more than you need to.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I buy a phone through my limited company?

Yes. A limited company can purchase a mobile phone as a business expense. The cost is deductible against corporation tax, and you can reclaim the VAT if the phone is used for business purposes. HMRC allows one mobile phone per employee as a tax-exempt benefit in kind, meaning no personal tax liability for the employee.

Can sole traders buy a phone through the business?

Yes. Sole traders can claim the business-use portion of a mobile phone as an allowable expense against income tax. If the phone is used 80 per cent for business, you can claim 80 per cent of the cost and monthly bills. VAT-registered sole traders can also reclaim the VAT on the business-use portion.

Do I pay benefit in kind tax on a company phone?

No, provided the company provides only one mobile phone per employee. HMRC exempts one mobile phone per employee from benefit in kind tax, regardless of whether it is also used for personal calls. If a second phone is provided to the same employee, the second device is a taxable benefit.

Is it better to buy a phone outright or on a business contract?

Both are legitimate business expenses. A business contract spreads the cost over 24 months with zero upfront cost and bundles the airtime, making cash flow easier. Buying outright costs more upfront but reduces total spend over two years and gives you more flexibility. For most businesses, a contract deal is simpler to manage and claim.

How much tax can I save by buying a phone through my business?

A limited company paying 25 per cent corporation tax saves 25p in tax for every pound spent on the phone and contract. Add VAT reclaim at 20 per cent, and the effective saving is around 40 per cent compared to buying personally. On an iPhone 16 costing approximately £11+VAT plus a approximately £11+VAT per month contract, that is approximately approximately £11+VAT in tax savings over two years.

What credit check is needed for a business phone contract?

For a limited company, the credit check is against the company using business credit agencies like Creditsafe or Experian Business. The director's personal credit is not typically affected. For sole traders, the credit check is personal. Approval depends on credit history, company age, and the number of lines requested.
