Why Compare?
Most businesses overpay on their mobile contracts by 20 to 35 percent. The main reasons are auto renewed contracts at inflated rates, data plans that do not match actual usage, and hidden charges. Comparing all four networks side by side reveals whether you are getting good value or paying more than you need to.
| What We Check | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
| Coverage at your postcodes | The cheapest deal is useless with poor signal |
| Data vs actual usage | Right sizing prevents overpaying and overage charges |
| Contract terms | Length, price rises, exit fees all affect total cost |
| Multi line discounts | 5+ lines typically save 10 to 25 percent |
| Business features | Fleet management, MDM, roaming, support levels |
Frequently Asked Questions
What is an eSIM and how does it work for business?
An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM built into modern phones. Instead of inserting a physical SIM card, your network sends a digital profile that you activate by scanning a QR code or using a carrier app. It works identically to a physical SIM for calls, texts and data, but removes the need for physical card handling. For businesses, this means instant activation, no waiting for SIM deliveries, and the ability to run two numbers on one phone.
Is a business eSIM more expensive than a physical SIM?
No. Business eSIM plans are priced identically to physical SIM plans across all major UK networks. There is no premium for choosing eSIM over a physical card. SIM only eSIM plans start from around approximately £11+VAT per month ex-VAT, and phone contracts with eSIM start from around approximately £11+VAT per month ex-VAT.
Which UK networks support business eSIM?
EE, O2 and Vodafone all fully support business eSIM activation. Three has limited business eSIM support and availability may depend on the specific plan. All networks provide eSIM activation via QR code or their business portal.
Can employees use eSIM for BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)?
Yes, and this is one of the strongest eSIM use cases for business. Employees keep their personal SIM in slot 1 and activate the company eSIM in slot 2. This gives them separate business and personal numbers on one phone, with separate billing. No need to carry two devices.
Which phones support eSIM?
Most flagship phones from 2023 onwards support eSIM. This includes iPhone 14 and newer (iPhone XS was the first to support it), Samsung Galaxy S24 and newer, Google Pixel 8 and newer, and most premium Android devices. iPhone 15 and 16 are eSIM-only in the US, though UK models retain a physical SIM slot alongside eSIM.
How do I activate a business eSIM?
Activation is simple. Your network sends a QR code by email or through their business portal. Open your phone's settings, go to mobile data or cellular, select 'Add eSIM' or 'Add mobile plan', and scan the QR code. The profile downloads in seconds and you are connected immediately. Some networks also offer activation through their carrier app.
Can I switch networks with an eSIM?
Yes. Switching is actually easier with eSIM because there is no physical card to swap. Request a PAC code from your current provider, give it to your new provider, and they send you a new eSIM QR code. Scan it and the switch is complete within one working day. Your old eSIM profile is deactivated automatically.
