If your eSIM is installed but you have no signal, no data, or intermittent connection, work through these steps in order.
Quick Fixes (Try These First)
- Toggle Airplane Mode — turn it on, wait 10 seconds, turn it off. This forces your phone to re-register on the network.
- Restart your phone — a full power off/on cycle clears temporary network glitches.
- Check eSIM is enabled — go to your SIM settings and make sure the eSIM line is toggled on.
- Set eSIM as primary data line — if using dual SIM, ensure your eSIM is selected for mobile data.
No Data Connection
- Turn on Data Roaming — some eSIMs (especially travel eSIMs) require data roaming to be enabled even in the UK. Go to Settings > Mobile Data > your eSIM line > Data Roaming > On.
- Check APN settings — your provider may need you to manually set the APN. Contact them for the correct values.

No Signal / “No Service”
- Check coverage — verify your network has coverage in your area
- Manually select network — iPhone guide | Samsung guide
- Try switching to 4G — 5G can be patchy. iPhone guide | Samsung guide
- Remove and re-add the eSIM — only do this if your provider confirms they can reissue the QR code
Connection Drops Intermittently
- Disable Wi-Fi Assist (iPhone: Settings > Mobile Data > scroll to bottom > Wi-Fi Assist > Off)
- Update your phone — install the latest OS version, as updates often fix connectivity bugs
- Check for network outages — visit your provider’s service status page
Do not delete your eSIM unless your provider tells you to. eSIM QR codes are single-use — if you delete the profile, you’ll need a new code from your provider.
