The “Unsupported eSIM” error appears when your phone cannot install the eSIM profile. Here are the most common causes and fixes.
Common Causes
- Your phone doesn’t support eSIM — not all models have eSIM capability. Check below.
- Your phone is carrier-locked — locked phones may block eSIM profiles from other networks.
- The eSIM profile has already been installed — each QR code works once.
- Software is out of date — older OS versions can have eSIM bugs.
eSIM-Compatible Phones
| Brand | Models with eSIM |
|---|---|
| Apple | iPhone XS, XR, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, SE (2022+) |
| Samsung | Galaxy S20+, S21+, S22+, S23+, S24+, S25+, S26+, Z Flip/Fold 3+, A54+ |
| Pixel 3a+, Pixel 4+, Pixel 5+, Pixel 6+, Pixel 7+, Pixel 8+, Pixel 9+ |
How to Fix
- Check compatibility — verify your exact model supports eSIM (Settings > General > About on iPhone, or dial
*#06#and look for an EID number) - Check carrier lock — go to Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock (iPhone) or contact your current provider
- Update your OS — install the latest iOS/Android version
- Contact your eSIM provider — they can confirm if the QR code was already used and reissue if needed
Tip: If your phone is carrier-locked, you can request an unlock from your current provider. By UK law, providers must unlock your phone for free once your contract has ended.
