The “Unable to Activate eSIM” or “An error occurred while trying to activate your eSIM” message on iPhone typically indicates a network or server issue.
How to Fix
- Check your Wi-Fi connection — eSIM activation requires a stable internet connection. Try a different Wi-Fi network if possible.
- Toggle Airplane Mode — turn on, wait 10 seconds, turn off.
- Restart your iPhone — hold the side button + volume button, slide to power off, wait 30 seconds, turn back on.
- Update iOS — Settings > General > Software Update.
- Reset network settings — Settings > General > Transfer or Reset > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
- Try again later — the activation server may be temporarily overloaded.
- Contact your provider — the eSIM profile may need to be reissued.
Tip: Try activating on a different Wi-Fi network (e.g. mobile hotspot from another phone). Some corporate or public Wi-Fi networks block the ports needed for eSIM activation.
