The “This code is no longer valid” error appears when scanning an eSIM QR code that has already been used or has expired.
Why This Happens
- QR code already scanned — eSIM QR codes are single-use. Once downloaded, the code is consumed.
- Code expired — some providers set expiry dates on eSIM codes
- You deleted the eSIM and are trying to reinstall — the original code won’t work again
How to Fix
- Check if the eSIM is already installed — go to Settings > Mobile Service. If it’s there, you’ve already activated it.
- Try the manual activation code — if the QR won’t scan, your provider may have sent an SM-DP+ address and activation code by email. See our manual activation guide.
- Contact your provider — ask for a new eSIM QR code. Most providers can reissue immediately.
Never delete an active eSIM. If you delete it, you’ll need a brand new code from your provider. There is no way to recover a deleted eSIM profile.
