Fix “This Code is No Longer Valid” on iPhone

Getting "This code is no longer valid" when scanning an eSIM QR code on iPhone? Learn why it happens and how to fix it.

Last updated: June 2026 • Reviewed by Compare The Networks

The “This code is no longer valid” error appears when scanning an eSIM QR code that has already been used or has expired.

Why This Happens

How to Fix

  1. Check if the eSIM is already installed — go to Settings > Mobile Service. If it’s there, you’ve already activated it.
  2. Try the manual activation code — if the QR won’t scan, your provider may have sent an SM-DP+ address and activation code by email. See our manual activation guide.
  3. Contact your provider — ask for a new eSIM QR code. Most providers can reissue immediately.
Never delete an active eSIM. If you delete it, you’ll need a brand new code from your provider. There is no way to recover a deleted eSIM profile.
