Installed your eSIM but can’t make calls or send texts? This is common with dual-SIM setups where the phone defaults to the wrong line. Here’s how to fix it.
Step 1: Set Your eSIM as the Voice Line
iPhone
- Go to Settings > Mobile Service
- Tap Default Voice Line
- Select your eSIM line
Samsung
- Go to Settings > Connections > SIM Manager
- Under Preferred SIM, tap Calls
- Select your eSIM
- Do the same for Text messages
Step 2: Enable Wi-Fi Calling
Wi-Fi Calling lets you make calls and texts over Wi-Fi when mobile signal is weak. This is especially useful for eSIMs in areas with patchy coverage.
iPhone
- Go to Settings > Mobile Service
- Tap your eSIM line
- Tap Wi-Fi Calling and turn it on
Samsung
- Go to Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi Calling
- Toggle it on for your eSIM line
Step 3: Check Data Line
If you have dual SIM (physical + eSIM), make sure the correct line is set for mobile data:
- iPhone: Settings > Mobile Service > Mobile Data > select your eSIM
- Samsung: Settings > Connections > SIM Manager > Mobile Data > select your eSIM
Still not working? Toggle Airplane Mode on and off, then try making a call. If that doesn’t help, reset your network settings.
