Mobile data lets your iPhone 14 access the internet when you’re not connected to Wi-Fi. Here’s how to turn it on or off, and how to manage data usage for individual apps.
Turn Mobile Data On or Off
From Settings
- Open Settings
- Tap Mobile Service (or Cellular)
- Toggle Mobile Data on or off
From Control Centre (quick toggle)
- Swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen
- Tap the mobile data icon (antenna symbol) to toggle on or off
- Green = on, grey = off
Control Data Usage Per App
- Go to Settings > Mobile Service
- Scroll down to see a list of apps with data usage
- Toggle off any app you want to restrict from using mobile data
Tip: Turn off mobile data for apps like iCloud Photos, software updates, and streaming services to avoid burning through your allowance when away from Wi-Fi.
Mobile Data Not Working?
- Check Airplane Mode is off
- Toggle mobile data off and on again
- Restart your iPhone 14
- Check for carrier settings update — Settings > General > About
- Reset network settings as a last resort — Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Important: If you’re abroad, you’ll also need Data Roaming enabled. Go to Settings > Mobile Service > Mobile Data Options > Data Roaming. Check your plan’s roaming charges first.
