Best Business Mobile for Calling the EU from the UK (2026 Comparison)

Last updated: April 2026

If calling the EU from the UK is part of your daily business — suppliers, trading partners, satellite offices, EU customers — here's which UK business mobile providers actually include it, which charge per minute, and which pretend to include it but have fair-use traps.

This is an honest comparison as of April 2026. Things change — we update this annually.

The EU-calling landscape (honest version)

Most UK business tariffs don't include calls to the EU from the UK at all — calls to European numbers are treated as international and billed per minute, typically 10p-30p/min. For a team of 10 making even modest international calls, that can add up to £100-300/month in out-of-bundle charges.

Provider-by-provider:

EE Business

  • Standard plans: EU calls charged per minute at international rates (generally 10-20p/min to EU landlines, higher for mobiles)
  • Higher-tier plans: Some include an "International Plus" add-on or inclusive minutes to a limited set of destinations
  • Generally needs bolt-on for genuine EU calling
  • Strength: UK coverage, 5G rollout, extensive business account management

Vodafone Business

  • Standard plans: EU calls typically per minute at international rates
  • Higher-tier plans: "Red Entertainment" and enterprise plans can include EU calls
  • Roaming separate: inclusive EU roaming often needs a separate uplift
  • Strength: Urban coverage, Vodafone One enterprise integration

O2 Business

  • Standard plans: Inclusive EU roaming as "Roam at Home" is standard
  • EU calls from UK: Less commonly inclusive on standard tariffs; some plans include inclusive calls to EU destinations
  • Strength: Roam at Home is best-in-class; coverage decent in urban and EU roaming abroad

Three Business

  • Standard plans: Mixed — some legacy plans included wide international, newer plans charge
  • Check specifics: varies substantially by plan
  • Strength: Data-heavy plans at competitive pricing

CTN Business

  • All tariffs include EU calls — 200, 500 or unlimited international minutes per month to 39 destinations (all EEA plus USA/Canada)
  • Plus inclusive roaming in 83 destinations
  • Strength: Both-direction EU coverage (calls from UK + roaming when abroad) as standard, not as bolt-on

Side-by-side for a typical 10-person team

Assumption: 10 staff, moderate EU usage (average 30 international minutes/user/month + occasional travel), 36-month term.

ProviderMonthly per user (indicative)EU callsEU roamingLikely annual cost (10 users)
EE Business (standard)~£22Pay per minuteDaily fee ~£2-5/day£22/user × 10 + ~£300 int calls + £400 roaming = **£3,340**
Vodafone Business~£22Pay per minuteDaily feeSimilar to above ~£3,200-3,500
O2 Business~£24Pay per minuteRoam at Home (inclusive)£24/user × 10 + £250 int calls = **£3,130**
Three Business~£20MixedMixed~£2,800-3,200 depending on plan
CTN Business (50GB/500 int)~£26Inclusive (500 min)Inclusive (83 countries)£26 × 10 × 12 = £3,120

Notes:

  • CTN's figure is all-in — no surprise roaming or international call charges
  • The other figures depend heavily on actual usage; low-usage months will undershoot, high-usage months will overshoot substantially
  • "Per user" prices are indicative for a 10-user business on a 36-month term with a similar spec handset; your actual quote will vary

Which suits which business

Heavy international callers (50+ mins/user/day)

  • CTN 100GB / unlimited international — no call-volume risk
  • Or EE/Vodafone with a specifically negotiated unlimited-international add-on (often possible at enterprise level, rarely on standard SMB plans)

Moderate travellers, low EU calling

  • O2 Business — Roam at Home covers the travel; international calls are rare so per-minute is tolerable
  • Or CTN 25GB / 200 international — cheaper if call volume is genuinely low

Heavy EU travellers, low EU calling (e.g. sales teams on the road)

  • O2 Business — Roam at Home is genuinely good
  • CTN 50GB / 500 international — matches O2 for roaming, has wider country list (83 vs O2's ~48)

Mixed teams (some heavy callers, some not)

  • CTN — mix tiers across the team (100GB for heavy, 25GB for light); one account, one invoice
  • Vodafone Business enterprise can do mixed tiers too, but usually needs an account manager fight

Non-EU calling (China, India, Middle East)

  • None of the above include these in standard bundles
  • Add-on bolt-ons from any provider (£5-15/month for specific country groups)
  • Or use a separate VoIP account for non-EU international; mobile for EU

The fair-use traps to watch for

Before committing to any "inclusive EU" business plan, check:

  1. Data cap on inclusive roaming — most are 20-40GB/month in EU; beyond that, throttling or charges
  2. Country list specifics — Switzerland, Turkey, and former Yugoslav states often excluded
  3. Calling vs roaming distinction — "inclusive EU" often means roaming, not calls from UK
  4. Contract term and price locks — 12-month contracts reprice at renewal; 36-month terms lock in
  5. Annual RPI / CPI increase clauses — OFCOM banned CPI-linked increases from 2025 (must be in £ and pence). Check the actual £/month increase on paper

CTN's tariffs specify annual increases of £2.50 + VAT per month each April, in writing. Some other providers still try CPI-linked terms despite the OFCOM rule change.

Our recommendation

If you're a small-to-medium UK business that calls the EU regularly: the realistic comparison is O2 Business (for the roaming) vs CTN (for the combined inclusive calls + roaming). If you need calls-from-UK to EU as a standard inclusive benefit, CTN is usually the simpler answer; if you mostly care about roaming when travelling, O2 Business works too.

If you're an enterprise with specialist international requirements (Asia, MENA, Latin America): none of the standard UK business tariffs are built for you. Custom enterprise plans from Vodafone Business Global Enterprise or similar, or international telecoms specialists, fit better.
